Hello Everyone!
Christy is not helping me fight my paper addiction! She just got an order in for some really fun paper that combines my favorite things...pink, brown and lots of glitter! It's the line by My Mind's Eye, Lost and Found Two, and it is very fun to play with! I'm not sure the picture below shows all the glitter on the page so stop by the store and see the new paper and my sample in person. The embellishments that go with the line are really cute. I usually prefer to make my own embellishments, but I could not resist these! The buttons are my absolute favorite. For this layout, I had to make flowers because, as usual, it's a girly page!
I just love these new flowers that my mother discovered on one of her late-night internet searches! They are made with organza and any other synthetic fabric you like. You cut varying sizes of round shapes to make several layers. You can use different fabrics for visual interest. I even used burlap as a layer on one flower (although you don't burn the edges, you can ink them if you like). Then I use my heat gun to melt the edges of each layer. You will have to do each layer separately because the layers will melt together if you try to use the heat gun on the whole flower at one time. Then you just sew the layers together in the middle and add whatever embellishment you want on the center. For my layout, I used buttons on some of the flowers and a flower on one. They are really fun to make because they can look so different just by changing up the layers and the colors. We have also used them on headbands, sweaters and barrettes.
I will be doing a make-n-take on Sunday Oct 2 at noon during the Scrap Pink crop if you want to stop by and try them out. You'll be hooked too! They really look good with this line of paper at Scraphappy. Christy has other colors too, so if pink is not your thing, don't despair!
I also did another type of flower on my page. I used a ribbon Christy has in the store. It's a lacy ribbon with a single strand of ribbon in the center. I pulled the center ribbon and scrunched up the whole ribbon, then wound it around a Gluber and put a pink button in the center. I can show you how to do that one at Scrap Pink if you're interested. I love the Glubers! They make those kind of flowers easy to make. If you haven't seen Glubers, they look like a giant glue dot. Stop by Scraphappy and Christy can point you in the right direction.
I hope this helps inspire you to get those creative juices flowing! Come see us at Scrap Pink!
