For the bachelorette!

If you are anything like me, wedding seasons seem to go in phases; You either have 4 or 5 engaged girlfriends all planning their weddings at once in the span of 3 months, or there are none--zip, zero zilch! Suddenly I am in the midst of several. One in particular is the September nuptials of my very dear, beloved friend, Tracy Helfrich. I can say that wedding planning is definitely in the air, because there have been several people in the store lately inquiring about bachelorette albums. Christy and I put our heads together and this is what I came up with. It is super cute and more importantly, fun!! A one-of-a-kind gift for that one-of-a-kind girl! Call or come by the store to inquire about a custom made album for your friend!

I can see straight through....

What am I talking about? I am talking about transparencies. When was the last time you used transparencies on your layout? Last month Christy gave me transparencies to use on a layout. I didn't know what to do with it. I could not figure it out. She told me that these particular transparencies are printable, but yet I still had that glazed over look in my eye. Well low and behold a lighting bolt hit me and I actually had an idea. Check it out:Cool huh? I printed words on it that went along with my title and then cut out clouds!
A little mist and a few masks later, and you have a page done! I am using the Early Bird line by Cosmo Cricket, and paint daubers by Tim Holtz.Think of the wonderful things you can do with these. You can make anything! Anything!!!! You have to try these! The ones at Scraphappy have a textured side which was perfect for printing on, and it didn't even smudge as I was pulling it from the printer. I was able to draw on it, too. Not to mention I have an older printer (at least 7 years old) and the transparency was thin enough to go through with no problems!

So if you haven't tried transparencies you need to. You can print on them and punch them out, stamp them, and customize all kinds of embellishments...who knew? Then try layering them on other things like fabric, or patterned paper. Give it a whirl and let us know what you think!

Toodles,
Carla D.

Altered Bra Contest!

Altered Bra Contest
and Silent Auction
Join us and build your bra for the fight against Breast cancer!

The last weekend in September scrapbook stores across the nation will kick off October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month by having their “Scrap Pink” weekend for Breast Cancer. We will be having a 3-day crop with lots of free make-n-takes and activities for all!

Please join our fundraiser by decorating your own bra representing your company or your personality. Drop your completed, decorated bra off at Scraphappy, at the corner of Airport and “W” St. Then call, email, or fax all your friends and family to encourage them to stop in and vote for your bra. All votes cost $1.00, and all proceeds raised will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Get your bra in as quickly as possible so you will have as much time as possible to get votes. All votes will be counted, and the person or business with the most votes will have a $50 donation made to the fund in their name! We will auction off the bras to raise even more money for the fund! This will be a fun fundraiser that allows you to express your creative side by decorating a bra in your own way. We will tally the votes on a weekly basis to let you know where you are in the standings. If you have any questions, contact Christy at scraphappypensacola@yahoo.com, or visit scrappink.com. Come by and show your support (no pun intended) for all of our Moms, Grandmas, sisters, daughters, aunts, cousins and girlfriends that we would hate to live without.

Final Day for voting and Silent Auction is Sunday, September 27th

Lemonade, Anyone?

Hey Scraphappy Peeps!

I know half of you have already been in to Scraphappy and bought the new Lemonade by Basic Grey (you were probably standing over Christy as she pulled it out the box). If you have not gone in to get this wonderful good stuff you need to go! This new line makes scrapbooking super-dooper easy! The layouts that I did are simple and easy and colorful (took them from Creating Keepsakes May 2009). I love this new line, swear I could eat it. Basic Grey has also added to their line "Designer Cardstock". On the first layout I used the blue cardstock. It is way more versatile to use with Basic Grey papers and is a perfect match. There is very little work to do to make pretty pages. You know when you make real lemonade you get some lemons, sugar and water, right? This line is the same way, you just add photos and a title ( I used Thickers by American Crafts). Check it out:The chipboard and embellishments are stinkin' adorable. Lady bug chipboard stickers....too cute. There is very little work that has to be done! Don't you just love it!

Okay, before I go I have to tell you ladies to do something. Check out the calendar for upcoming events. I took a class last week with Dawne (one of the designers). She ROCKS! The class was awesome! Dawne had us make 6 cards that are so cute. Everything was perfectly organized and I was blown away! Not to mention I came home with some goodies and 6 cards! Whoo-hoo! But you guys have to check out the calendar, Christy is going to keep you busy scrappin'!

Toodles! Have a wonderful day!
