Can't Resist this Resist Paper!!

We just got in all of this awesome Bazzill Resist and Embossed cardstock, so we thought we would show you a quick little sample using some of it! It is seriously soo cool, and such an easy and fun way to make a page, card, or project extra special.
Here is what the cardstock looks like to start with:
You can see that it is all white, and has glossy, or resist, patterns! We have lots of different patterns in stock like stripes, polka dots, leaves, etc. You could use anything you have to color your paper, including markers, paint, ink, spray mists, or stains. In this layout, I used Tim Holtz's Distress Stain in Broken China. I covered the entire page in the stain, doing a section at a time, and wiping with a paper towel as I went so that the resist area didnt stain. Here is what it looked like after I stained it:
It would also be pretty to use multiple colors to color your paper.
This totally made me think of water, so I decided to make a
quick water layout with the newly-blue paper!!
A photo mat, a title, and some simple embellishments kept the beautiful glossy background the highlight of the design of this layout! You could always add another photo to the left, but I wanted to leave it open for now to show you the pretty pattern. :)
I am thinking some of the other patterns would make beautiful holiday cards!!!
Come in and check it out!

Playing with New My Mind's Eye

Hello, World!

It's the first Thursday of the month, which means it's time for my regularly-scheduled blog post! I know you've all been waiting with baited breath, right? Lol.Anyhow, I hope everyone has had a chance to check out the new store location. Personally, I love it. It's closer to my house, it's well-stocked, and it's closer to my house (have I mentioned this already?) - which means more opportunities to shop and buy all the new products that are coming in. Remember all those lovely pictures I showed from CHA in January? Well, I have good news for you: the Winter CHA releases are starting to hit store shelves! And ScrapHappy has a lot of it! Yeah for enabling! When I was there last week, I was able to pick up some of the new Basic Grey and Echo Park lines, in addition to some of Rhonna Farrer's lines for My Mind's Eye.

First up, a few layouts for you to look at: Baa Baa Baby Jesus is a layout about my youngest and her friends before they sang in our church's Children's Christmas Program and the sheep song they sang. I wish I could convey the hilarity of their performance. But at least I have this layout to remember it by.

This next layout uses a quote from Dr Seuss. October Afternoon offered the quote as a free Silhouette svg file for easy cutting. I stamped the butterflies with a Jenni Bowlin stamp then layered the quote over it. The people shapes are Studio Calico wood veneers, and the kitty button is from October Afternoon.

And finally, a new magnet board that can be used for everyday messages and note-taking. I cut the days of the week on my Silhouette and inked them with grey ink before Mod-Podging them to the board. The magnets themselves are recycled from my Love Notes magnet board that I showed you at Valentine's Day. All the supplies are available at ScrapHappy.

I hope you've enjoyed the projects today. Let us know if you have any requests or questions.

Christy's Top 10 Favorites from CHA!!

Okay, this is very hard to narrow down, but I am going to try! I am also going to try and choose different top tens than Stephanie!!

1.) Favorite stamp set: "Plus One" from Lawn Fawn Stamps! Bun in the oven is tooooo cute!! This card was done by Nancy over at Happy Heart Studios.

2.)Favorite paper line, "Portrait" by Crate Paper. Soo pretty! Great new colors!

3.)Favorite new product: Glubers from Cosmo Cricket! Such a simple little thing, but so useful! Basically they are a large adhesive dot used for making your own flowers!

4.)Cutest booth: GCD Studios! They had a kissing booth, banners, hanging bird cages, and even the wooden people shapes you pose with at the fair or circus.

5.)Favorite layout! This was the hardest to choose because i loved tons of them!!!! The quote says: "In this vast world, you will never be alone." I THINK this was in the Best Creation booth.

6.)Favorite newer manufacturer: Ok, so they aren't really new, but Memory Works came out with these simple stories sets, life documented, destinations, and an elementary one. The all come with 4x6 journaling prompts, and all sorts of sized pieces to fit in the divided page protectors. Hence, getting some quick scrappin done! I was surprised not only at how good the finished products looked, but how pretty the papers actually were!

7.)Booth with the best samples: Little Yellow Bicycle! This is one could easily have gone to many, many booths, but i think the biggest difference in their layouts was, the PHOTOS were AwEsOmE!!!!Just goes to show, the pictures really do make the page!!

8.)Favourite International Line: Rococo by Harmonie!
Such pretty colours! They always use the best turquoise color to make super dramatic paper!

9.)Favorite storage item: Plastic binders and cases by Univenture. These clear cases come with or without binder rings inside. They range in size from around 4"x6" to 11"x14". You can use pages inside to store photos, or as a personal sticker binder. You can store anything in them, stamps, embellies, paper, etc. They can be labeled and stacked on a shelf like books! We also thought about the idea of making a mini album out of the smaller sized ones! And the best part? The largest one only retails for around $6!! Yay!

10.)Favorite unconventional scrap supply product: Vintage Street Market! This booth had these large 24"x36"sheets of scrap paper! Each sheet has 6 different 12x12 squares of designs, with a coordinating color on the back. Also comes with the same size sheets of crepe paper and foil paper! 12x12 die cuts also included. Not sure exactly what I will be using this paper for yet, but I am sure you guys will help with some really awesome ideas!

First Bra In, New Stuff in, Photo class added...

Hello! So the first bra has been turned in for the bra contest!

Stop by to vote or to turn yours in! Many local businesses are creating a bra to represent their company, so if you have a business, get some free advertising and make us a bra! We even have a bra coming all the way from Jamaica! There are some cheerleaders from local high schools decorating bras in their school colors, so if you have school spirit, you'd better get your friends together and make a bra to help your school win the most votes! Also, if there are any college football fans out there, you'd better get working on your bra, because we have several in the works!

Today we got a visit from Justin, AND our Fed Ex delivery guy! I mean, 2 boxes of new stuff in one day?? It was seriously a great day! :) Come by and check out the new stuff, which will continue coming in regularly! A few things that came were some of the new Tim Holtz Stickles, and tons of requests, like dirt bike stuff, 50th anniversary, softball, racing, Air Force, Fancy Pants, transparencies, Pink Paislee and more!

Also coming up is a photography class here at Scraphappy on September 8th from 6pm-8pm. The class is being taught by the owner of Rob's Camera, formerly Ritz Camera. Having great pictures for our layouts is just as important as all of the pretty paper and embellishments we use, so come learn some tips from a pro! The class is only $30, and Rob will be giving you guys $20 in coupons to his camera/print shop. Check the website for a detailed class description. Call or come by to sign up!

Don't forget, we are cropping this weekend from Friday 6-midnight and Saturday 9am-midnight. There are still spaces available, call to reserve yours!

Thanks guys, and have a great weekend!
