Upcoming Events that you DON'T want to miss!!

Hello ya'll...I'm just a southern gal who loves anything to do with any art form. I love painting in watercolor, oil and acrylics but just anything to do with paper would be my present addiction.I have two wonderful grandchildren (Payton 5 and Grayton 2 1/2) and two more on the way, thus the reason to scrapbook. I could probably get more pages done if I were not constantly stopping to make some new flower or embellishment.

I would call myself an eclectic scrapbooker because I want to use it all. I love to use all of Rangers distressing inks and stains, copic markers, watercolor crayons and (did I say) Paper!

I am so looking forward to working with all the talented ladies on the Scraphappy Design Team. There is so much new stuff out there for all of us to explore with you. So be sure to stop in the store often and read the blog to see what we all have to share with you.

I heard someone say that to practice ART, no matter how badly or how well, is a way to make your soul grow....so let's just get to it!

create something every day, you'll be better for it,

My name is Vicky Kanis and I am a paper addict! There is no help for me. I love playing with paper and especially adding pictures to the mix. I am so excited to be part of the Design Team for the next 6 months. I feel out of my league with so many talented ladies but I'll do my best to keep up :-). I am not a professional but I have been exploring my addiction to paper for over 10 years. My mom, Linda, is also on the design team and we have been doing art projects together since I was small. She has always been involved in some type of art and my sister and I were always happy to see what she was working on and sometimes play along. We are also involved with another great group of ladies and we meet once a month to do paper art and make cards, scrapbook pages, embellishments, or whatever else inspires us.
I especially love doing scrapbook pages and most importantly, capturing those special memories I might forget (since my brain is a little foggy these days). I am married to a very patient husband who supports me and my hobby.
We have a 5 year old, Payton, (who is the subject of a lot of my pages) and another baby due in February.

I love making embellishments so I am a very slow scrapbooker. I keep finding something new I want to add to my page! I work as a tax accountant to support my addiction so I never seem to do as much as I'd like. I'm also an avid reader and carry my Nook everywhere so I can read whenever I have a spare moment.
I hope we can have some fun over the next several months and that I can help inspire you. I know I will be inspired with lots of new ideas from all of you. The best part of this hobby is sharing all the great things out there!

Hi everyone!-Christina's intro

 Hi everyone!

I am so excited to have been chosen to be on the Scraphappy Design Team. Today is my day to give you a bit of an introduction about me.

I have been scrapping and stamping officially for about 13 years. Unofficially, I have tons of memory type books from my school days, with paper clippings and other keepsakes.  Like a bunch of others, I started out early on with the Creative Memories way of scrapping.  So my first pages are tons of pictures cut into cute shapes like triangles and circles and embellished with pretty construction paper cut with decorative scissors.  Good thing I found early into my scrapping foray the Creating Keepsakes magazine.  That magazine lead me to a whole different way of scrapping. =)
I am now a stamper and a scrapbooker and I have even moved into the world of digital scrapbooking too.  I really enjoy doing digital, because I don’t have to make such a mess, but I don’t think I will give up the paper scrapping either.  There is just something about all the fun papers and embellishments! Oh and all the stamping stuff, I get to do that with my mother in law who is a die hard Stampin’ Up woman.
I don’t have a particularly favorite designer or company that I favor.  I love bright fun designs that make pretty girly layouts; I think that probably comes from having three very girly daughters.  Lately, I have been looking at the vintage girly (what a description) look, but I have yet to try any of those techniques.

Now a little bit about me.  I was born and raised in Mobile, AL.  In August of 1997 I met my soon to be husband on the internet.  We met in person in October, we were engaged the following June and married in December of 1998.  So this December, we will be married 13 years.  Here’s a layout I did of us.  This shot was taken a couple of years ago when we went to see Tim McGraw at The Wharf.  Aren’t we so cute together =)

We enjoyed being newlyweds for a few years but in December 2001 we had our first daughter Jordan.  We had fun with just the three of us for a while, but then in March 2006, we had another daughter, Emery and then much to our surprise, 18 months later we had another daughter Leah.   They are such sweet girls.
Jordan 10
Emery 5
Leah 4 (in October)
Here’s a layout of my girls all together on Valentines Day of this year:

Let’s see what else can I tell you about me….????
Our family is huge Auburn fans. I am not so much of a football watcher, but I will watch it with my husband.  I usually have no choice anyways, cause during football season, that’s ALL that’s on at my house.

I am an avid reader.  I love The Harry Potter and Twilight series (can’t wait for the next movie).  But I read a lot of Romance novels.

Finally I am a huge huge huge  New Kids on the Block fan (shhhh don’t laugh it’s my guilty pleasure)
Here’s a layout I did for a concert I went to recently:

And just for fun, here are a couple of cards I've done:

Again I want to let you all know how excited I am to be on the design team.  I look forward to having lots of fun and learning lots of stuff from the rest of this great team.
Scrap Pink is coming…see you there!

Excited to be Joining the ScrapHappy Team!

Hi Everyone!!  My name is Ashley Horton, and I am so looking forward to being a part of the ScrapHappy Team over the next 6 months.  Today, I am here to tell you a little bit more about myself.  My husband, Tyler, and I have been married for 12 years.  We have three children, Madison age 5, Emma age 3, and Reese age 2.  And believe me, they are a handful!!!  Three years ago, I decided to leave my job of 11 years at our church, as an Admin Asst. and be a Stay at Home Mom.  It was one of the best decisions we could have made for our family!

I started Scrapbooking over 5 years ago and had no clue what I was doing!  It was definitely trial and error and I couldn't tell you which product was which or who made what!!  :)  But times have changed and my "skills" have improved greatly since that first year!  I would say that my overall style at this point is Cutesy...mainly because a lot of my pages are centered around my children and they are all young ages.  But I love to do a little bit of everything...Whimsical, Artsy, Vintage, Graphic, Clean & Simple...you name it, I've tried it!  Some of my favorite products are from Echo Park, My Minds Eye, October Afternoon, and Tim Holtz.  I had a layout published 2 years ago for the special issue of Creating Keepsakes Super Fast Pages with 4x6 Photos Vol. 2 and have an upcoming layout that will be published in the January 2012 issue of Creating Keepsakes.  I also had a published layout in the new EBook by Sassy Lil' Sketches.  So here is a little bit of my work, that I would like to share with you:

When I have a little spare time, I enjoy reading and watching movies with my hubby.  We also love spending time with our friends and being involved in the activities and ministries in our church.  Thanks for taking the time to read a little about me and I look forward to sharing more with you each month, through my monthly tips and techniques on the Blog!

Scraphappy Hello!

Hello, World! I'm Cori...Cori Peck. I am a Christian 37 year old wife and mother. I am a pediatrician, raised in Birmingham, but living in South Alabama for the last 4 years. My husband Bill is the ultimate computer geek and works from home. Together, we homeschool our 2 daughters: the 5th grade, 9 year old Kid, and my 5 year old kindergardener, LoveBug - both so that we can direct what they learn and, also, so that school is on our Life Schedule...not life on the School Schedule. We love to travel and explore this amazing world God has created for us, and we just recently returned from a month-long Great American Road Trip. During this adventure, I completed my goal of being in all 50 states while my husband fulfilled his dream of pulling an RV across the country.

I started scrapbooking while pregnant with the Kid when a church friend dragged me to a Creative Memories party. Once I learned that I DIDN'T have to cut my pictures into cute shapes and could STILL PLAY with the fun papers and stickers, I was hooked. Addiction soon followed. We used to joke that my scrapbook 'habit' was cheaper than therapy. Now, we're not so sure :)

I consider myself primarily a simple scrapper. But I love inks, paints, and stamping. It is the rare layout that does not include some kind of ink on it. My focus is always the pictures. Photos come first. Everything else stems from that. I prefer everyday, spontaneous pictures over event-based or posed portraits. Catching my kids and their friends unaware makes me happy.

I feel happy and priviledged to be a new member of the Scraphappy Design Team and am looking forward to sharing my love of Documenting Life with all of you.

Have You Ever Checked the Consignment Room?

My favorite thing at Scraphappy is new shipment day. But when the rush of orders from CHA is on, and it seems like F.O.R.E.V.E.R. to get the Scraphappy shipments, my next favorite place is the Consignment room.
Christy started the Consignment room to helps scrappers purge their stashes of stuff we customers no longer need. Perhaps we only used 2 buttons from the package, or bought a few too many of something. Bring it in, get a consignment number, mark your price and watch the store credit add up!!
I love shopping the consignment room. When Christy or Stephanie posts that the room has been restocked, I want to jump in the car and head over there. I can't always do that, usually I'm at work when they post. But I'm there as soon as I can get there!
I've found some great bargains and sold some great stuff also! I love getting store credit to use when the shipments come in. Recently I was in there right after a customer had "restocked" the room. It was embellishment HEAVEN! I took pictures of my haul to share with you. The first picture is an assortment of tags, brads, Thickers, stickers, flowers and rub ons. Some were never opened! 11, count 'em, 11 packs of Thicker alphas!!!!

This picture is of one of my favorite things to collect, 15 pages of 7 gypsies stickers! at 10 cents a piece, I consider them the best bargain that day, since some sheets only had one sticker missing!

All this for $13!!!!! I counted 31 packages, some never used, so they ended up being an average of 31 cents each! The most I paid for a package was $1, the least was 10 cents. Even only if I use a few of the letters, stickers or embellies, I'm coming out ahead. I can even repackage them and resell them in the consignment room.
A few tips for good sales are; make sure it's clean and reusable, keep it cheap, include orginal packaging if possible or bundle several items together.
So the next time you need a bit of retail therapy and you're low on cash, check out the consignment room. But if you are totally broke, purge your scrap stash of no longer needed stuff and earn some store credit!
What's your favorite consignment buy? best deal? What have you sold?

Hi I am Colleen!

Hello scrappy friends!  My name is Colleen Gorman Chambers and I am so happy to be here, still! I have been with Scraphappy, in some capacity or another, since 2009.  Whether its working in the store, being on the Design Team or taking care of Christy's son Carter (for a year!), I love it all...Christy & her two kiddies are like family!

I have always been artsy-craftsy, but have only  been scrapbooking for about five years.  I would describe my style as all over the place...I am definately drawn to bright colors with edgy designs.  Its pretty rare that I use anything muted....I do love Tim Holtz though!  Some of my favorite current designers are Lawn Fawn stamps, Echo Park, Maya Road and Crate Paper, just to name a few.  I am obsessed with banners right now!  Banner love is a flowin'!

I am so so blessed with two children;  My daughter  Madeline Grace will be 16 next month,  and she is a sophomore at Tate High School.  My son Dillon just turned 10 in July.  He attends Beulah Elementary School & is in fifth grade.  Between school, sports & social lives, they keep me very busy! I am originally from New York. I come from a big, loud, fun, Yankee family, and I am the youngest of six children. My parents are my rock!  We are all really close.  Maddy & Dillon have lots of cousins to grow up with!

I look forward to sharing more of my creations with you in the near future!  I do have a blog that I have just recently started.  Click here to follow me!

Bye for now!
Colleen
